Dorothy Bembenic Obituary

Dorothy H. Bembenic, 88, Shaffer Street, Sykesville, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Christ the King Manor.
Born March 20, 1926, in Sykesville, she was the daughter of the late John and Magdeline Burich Sabarich.
On July 4, 1947, she married Peter Paul Bembenic. He preceded her in death June 23, 1998.
She retired happily at age 77 after more than 20 years of service as a cook in the office at Fairman Drilling Company.
Dorothy was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and past president of the rosary society for many years. She organized many trips to Canada, Washington D.C., Florida, and Boston to name a few. She organized many charitable dinners at the church benefitting African missions and other church affairs. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved to spend time with her family, especially playing Tripoli. She loved to crochet and cooking was her passion.
She is survived by her children: Denise Bussard and her husband, Allen, of Reynoldsville; Doug Bembenic and his wife, Suzanne, of DuBois; Timothy Bembenic and his wife, Paulette, of DuBois; Dennis Bembenic and his wife, Carol, of Brockway; and Michelle Johnson of DuBois; one sister, Evelyn Hoare of Reynoldsville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Bembenic; seven sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be held from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Rick Tomasone as celebrant. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 22 Shaffer St., Sykesville, PA 15865.
