Gail Lathrop Obituary

Gail Mardis (Dempsey) Lathrop, 82, of Brookville, PA passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.

Gail was born on July 7, 1943, to the late Alfred Truman and Veda Elizabeth (LaBorde) Dempsey in DuBois, PA.

She graduated from Brookville Area High School.

On June 5, 1965, Gail married Harold Gene Lathrop; he preceded her in passing.

Gail spent her later years caring for children in the neighborhood while their parents worked. She was a member of the Marantha Church of God. Gail enjoyed having picnics "over the hill" at her cabin in the woods with her family and friends. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.

Gail is survived by five children: Brian Lathrop, Darrin (Sally Jo) Lathrop, Terry (Valerie) Lathrop, Chad Lathrop, Cindy Lathrop; one sibling, Mrs. Zola (Jack) Reed; nine grandchildren: Brendan, Darringer, Colt, Derek, Adam, Amber, Madison, Ethan, and Nicki; and two great-grandchildren, Julian and Carter.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gail was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Dempsey; and one sister, Kay Gladson.
