John S. "Goat" Kruel Jr.

1943 - 2021

John S. "Goat" Kruel, Jr., 78, of Horseshoe Drive, Penfield, PA, died Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at his home, after a short illness.

A son of the late John S. Kruel, Sr and the late Ruth Marie (Spoonhoward) Kruel, he was born on September 26, 1943 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, PA. In 1966 he married Donna (Crossland) who predeceased him in 2000. In March 2010 he married Carol (Heller), who survives at home.

Along with his wife, Carol, John is survived by two children, Leslie Kruel of Elizabethtown, PA and John Henry Kruel of Penfield; two grandchildren, Katie and Hunter; and two brothers, Robert (Linda) Kruel of Grapeville and Timothy (Betsy) Kruel of Greensburg.

Besides his parents and his first wife, John was preceded in death by: a brother, William Kruel.

John served as Chief Engineer for the East Donegal Fire Department for many years. He worked as a Steel Fabricator, Group Leader and Foreman for Goodhart & Sons. Inc., of New Holland for many years, retiring in 2010. He has also worked with the Huston Township Water Authority for the past several years. He was an avid hunter/fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He was born and raised in Herminie, lived in Maytown for many years, Elizabethtown for several years and the past eleven years in Penfield.

There will be no public visitation.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield has been entrusted with final arrangements.
