Larry O'Rourke Obituary
Born Nov. 20, 1946, in Kane, he was the son of Robert D. Rourke and the late Lula F. Ishman Rourke. On Nov. 6, 1965, in Marienville, he married Beverly J. Summers, who survives.
Larry was a self-employed contractor, having owned and operated O'Rourke Contracting for over 30 years. Later, he was a masonry instructor for seven years at SCI Forest.
He was a charter member of the Lions Club in Marienville and held a Halloween party at the East Forest School every year since 1979. He also was a member of the Marienville Area Civic Association.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his father of Blue Jay; daughters, Tammy (Matt) Thompson of Pigeon and Laura Hertel of Brookville; a son, Eric (Amy) O'Rourke of Brockway; three brothers: Ronald O'Rourke of Greensburg, Stanley O'Rourke of Blue Jay and Gerald Rourke of Sheffield; two sisters, Louann Wolfgang of Blue Jay and Judith Cochran of Tionesta and his former son-in-law, Ray Hertel of Brockway; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and may attend a service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday with the Rev. Boyd Edmondson, pastor of the Marienville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Frost Cemetery in Pigeon.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Marienville Area Library, PO Box 306, Marienville, PA 16239.
