Nancy Garthwaite Obituary

Nancy Louise "Gramma Weezie" Garthwaite, 87, DuBois, went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2022.

Born May 13, 1935, in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Stewart.

She attended the Sandy Schools and graduated from Sandy High School as the Valedictorian in 1953. Nancy graduated from the Jeff Tech LPN Program in 1969.

She attended West Liberty Baptist Church in her younger years and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Nancy was the organist and pianist for many years as well as served as nursery attendant. She enjoyed working with the youth and little ones, becoming known as Gramma Weezie to many. Throughout her working years, she was employed by DRMC, Maple Avenue Hospital, Head Start, Riverside, and Wilson Bakery. Nancy volunteered at DRMC and the DuBois Nursing home. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and attending programs they were in.

Nancy is survived by three sons and their wives, David (Anita) Garthwaite, DuBois, Bradley Garthwaite, Delaware, and Jeff (Kerry) Garthwaite, DuBois; a sister, Sandra Simpson, DuBois; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.

A Time of Gathering will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Penn Highlands.
