Robin Groose Obituary

Robin Waldo Groose

October 2, 1951 - January 12, 2025

Robin Waldo Groose passed on January 12th, 2025, having spent his final days surrounded by his loving family. Robin was born in Beaver Dam, WI on October 2nd, 1951, to Milton Orlando Groose and Mae Charlotte Groose. He earned his PhD in plant breeding and genetics at the University of Wisconsin, in Madison, where he met and married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Casey. Robin and Patricia spent 30 years in Laramie, raising their children and where Robin taught and researched plant science and genetics at the University of Wyoming. Since 2017, Robin and Patricia have lived in Tucson, AZ.

Robin will always be remembered for his contribution to drought and pest resistant alfalfa and pea varieties. And for his love of nature, science, and philosophy. An avid birdwatcher, he was a founding member of the Laramie Audubon Society. He contributed opinion columns regularly to the Casper Star-Tribune.

Robin is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Ann Casey; his children, Evan (Ashley) Groose and Anna Groose, and his grandchildren: Milo Carlisle, Eli Groose, and Ian Groose. Robin is also survived by his sister Charlotte Groose; his many brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

I met Robin when he decided to resuscitate the Laramie Audubon Society. Cheyenne Audubon was temporarily taking care of the Laramie members until Robin came along. I didn't realize he was a fellow Wisconsonite.
Sorry for your loss.

Very sorry to hear of Robin's passing. It was an honor to meet him at the 30th anniversary Laramie Audubon Society picnic just a few short years ago. Condoloences to the entire family.
