Scott Kenneth Rittman, 59, of Ross Township, lost his 29 month long battle with colon cancer Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Scott was the beloved husband of Diana Lynn (Dede) Rittman. Scott was born April 11, 1953, in Brackenridge, to Charles K. and Bettie J. (Wadding) Rittman. Scott was a self-employed property manager and developer and the president of Rittman Contracting. He also worked as a volunteer assistant golf coach for the North Allegheny Varsity Boys Golf Team, for which his wife is the head coach, and he also worked as a volunteer assistant director for the North Allegheny Intermediate High School Talent Show with his wife. The Rittmans also directed some North Allegheny High School Spring Musicals together. Scott enjoyed mentoring the students on stage and on the golf course, and the students loved and admired him. Scott was an avid turkey and deer hunter, as well as a talented fly fisherman, who made casting a fly rod into a beautiful art form. A member of Diamond Run Golf Club in Sewickley, Scott carried an 11 handicap and enjoyed playing golf with his wife and friends. Scott was also a member of Highland Country Club for 15 years, where he was a past president. Scott was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and he appeared on stage with the New Kensington Civic Theatre and Apple Hill Playhouse and he also sang in many other venues. Some of his favorite roles included Daddy Warbucks in Annie, El Gallo in The Fantasticks, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Edward Rutledge in 1776 and Fred/Petruchio in Kiss Me, Kate. Scott also enjoyed designing sets and directing. A member of First United Presbyterian Church of Tarentum, Scott enjoyed singing in the choir and was a featured soloist. Scott was a 1971 graduate of Highlands High School. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Penn State and Michigan State University. He also achieved a CSM (Certified Shopping Mall Manager) status. Scott was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin, in 1957; by his maternal grandparents, David and Gertrude Wadding; his paternal grandparents, Charles E. and Margaret Rittman; and his great-aunt and uncle, William (Babs) and Willovine Bernacki. Survivors include his wife of almost 31 years, Dede Faltot Rittman; his parents, Charles and Bettie Rittman, of Brackenridge; sisters, Shari Rittman Garrett, of Raleigh, N.C., and Shelle (Bill) Fischer, of Natrona Heights; and brothers, Shawn (Stephanie) Rittman, of Brackenridge, Shaine (Sheila) Rittman, of Hillsborough, N.J., and Sloane (Donna) Rittman, of Brackenridge. Scott is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Christopher and Thomas Garrett, Jason and Michael Malobicky, Joshua and Julia Rittman, Nicole, Brenden and Corey Rittman and Katelyn, Lauren and Ella Rittman. The family will receive friends will be from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME, 1007 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock St., Tarentum, PA 15084. The Rev. Phillip Beck will be officiating. Interment will be private in Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights.
