James "Jess" Hostoffer Kuhn, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at his home surrounded by his wife and family. Jess was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Milton S. and Kathryn Hostoffer Kuhn. He was a 1951 graduate of Ramsay High School where he participated on the varsity teams of football, basketball, track and American Legion baseball. He was a member of various softball teams in the area that included the Fireman's Club, Bridgeport, Kosciuszko Club and Old Timers League. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jess was a member of the American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant, Life member of the Hecla Sportsman's Club and honorary member of the Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Club. Jess was a Korean War veteran serving with the Army, attended the New Hope Community Church, Mt. Pleasant and was employed as a butcher for the family business, E.B. Hostoffer and Sons, Mt. Pleasant, and Joseph Meat Packing Co., Connellsville. He loved his family and was loved by his family and friends. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Dorothy King Kuhn; children, Kathy Earnesty and husband, John, of Acme, Susan Wadsworth and husband, Bruce, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Jim Kuhn and Terri Scott, of Acme; grandchildren, Rachel Farina and Rob, Jessica Sebek, Jamie Heffley and Patrick, John Earnesty Jr., Scott Sebek and Hope, Tiffany Kuhn, Katie Rhodes and Brian, Samantha Shaffer and Adam, Milton Earnesty, Tyler Wadsworth, Danielle Kuhn, Allen Wadsworth, Brandon Earnesty and Halie Keefer; great-grandchildren, Riley Baker, Ethan Hall, Rylee Farina, Reese Farina, Ramsey Sebek, Bryton Rhodes and Carys Heffley; a brother, Edward M. Kuhn Sr. and wife, Evelyn, of Mt. Pleasant; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis Radebaugh, Carl King, Curtis King, Lillian King, Paul King and Betty, Robert King, John King and Patty, Linda King; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jess was preceded in death by his sisters, Kay Marks and Carol Radebaugh; brothers-in-law, Robert Marks, William King and Michael Pasko; sisters-in-law, Mary Miller, Ramona Pasko, Doris King and Linda King; and a niece, Victoria King. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL SERVICE INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt.
