John Boland Obituary

John E. Boland Jr., 82, of Connellsville died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Highlands Hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Arnold, a son of the late John E. and Margaret A. Morrison Boland Sr. John was a graduate of Arnold High School with the Class of 1937. He had been a resident of Connellsville since 1960. Prior to his retirement in 1980, he worked as a T&D supervisor for West Penn Power Co. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of action. John was a member of the Connellsville B.P.O. Elks #503. He was also a former member of the Connellsville American Legion #301, a former member of the Connellsville F.O. Eagles #493 and a former member of the Connellsville Sons of Italy. John is survived by his loving daughters, Loretta A. Bokros and her husband, Thomas of Erie, Joanne E. McCulloch of Levittown, Carol A. Kregiel and her husband, James of Wilkins Township, Dolores A. Quigley and her husband, Thurl of Edina, Minn., and Karen A. Carlton and her husband, James of Connellsville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. John was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Anna O. Sober Boland on July 21, 2001; a brother, Kenneth Boland; and two sisters, Doreen and Mildred Boland. Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Lance Lecocq, pastor of the Monroeville Assembly of God Church, officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Connellsville VFW and American Legion and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard. The Connellsville Elks #503 will conduct a service Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. www.brooksfuneralhomes.com.
