Martin Andrews Obituary

Martin F. Andrews, 65, of McKeesport, departed this life Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1949, in McKeesport, son of the late Thomas Andrews Sr. and Mabel Mack Andrews. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacquelyn Gault Andrews, on Sept. 2, 2014. He was a graduate of McKeesport High School. He later received an Associate Degree from Beckley College, Beckley, W. Va., Bachelor's Degree in education from Marshall University, Huntington, W. Va., Master's in human resources from LaRoche College, Pittsburgh, an educational leadership certification and a Master's in public management, both from Carnegie Mellon University. He was a retired teacher from the Duquesne City School District. He was previously employed with the McKeesport Area School District, Point Park College, and with the Allegheny County Housing Authority. He was a member of more than 50 years of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served as the former treasurer of the Kiddie Haven Day Care and the Mortgage Committee. He was a life member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., member of the Pittsburgh Iota Phi Chapter and life member of the NAACP. Surviving are his children, Martin "Blaze" (Lori) Andrews, of Irwin, Mysty Conway, of North Versailles, and Jade Lynne (Shomari) Andrews-Whyte, of Fairfield, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, Jordyn, Jaedyn, Jaxsyn, Jeavyn, Jozlyn, Justys, Journey, Jyselle, Judge and Omega Conway, Tyler and Alexis Andrews and Carter Whyte; sisters, Ruthie M. (Norman) Buckner and Geneva L. "Cookie" Andrews (Ernie), both of McKeesport; brothers, Vernon E. (Heather) Andrews, of McKeesport, Thomas Andrews Jr. (Helen), of Irwin, and David E. (Katrina) Andrews, of McKeesport; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 716 Walnut St., McKeesport, with services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, with Pastor Earlene Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport.
