Fair well my friend

My condolences to all of you. I only learned of Jim's passing today, from a mutual friend from childhood. Jim was my first friend in life. We lived across the street from each other from my birth until 1974. Jim found me in cyberspace a few years ago and we reconnected but missed out on the plan we had to meet in DC in Fall 2018. I only really knew Jim the kid, ages 4 to 14, but we did so much together and he was my best friend, and people don't change all that much from 8 to 58 in their hearts. He was a good person, loving husband and father. The only one in the whole family who would know me is Pat, who was similarly close with my older brothers and even stayed with us for a few days after the flood, but my condolences go to Pat and to all of you that I don't know. Peace. Garth

Our deepest sympathies to Diane and family. Jim and I worked together at Alcoa Tech Center during the 90's, and became friends over beer, bowling and metallurgical debates. Like often happens, our contact became less and less frequent as we moved along different career paths and I returned to the West Coast. He reached out a couple years ago, and beyond several text exchanges we never managed to connect. I deeply regret that lost opportunity and will pledge to do better by old friends in the future.
