Eugene Paul Sciullo, of Edgewater, FL, on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025. Son of the late Frank and Isabella Sciullo; father of Theresa (Jim) Kaufman; Paul Sciullo, Christopher (Tamara) Sciullo, and Maura Sciullo. Beloved Papa to Jimmy and Bridget Kaufman and Conner Sciullo. Brother-in-law to Jim and Shirley Omundsen and Eileen Wieners. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.Gene was predeceased three months prior by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia. Also predeceased by brothers and their wives, Angelo and Jeannette Sciullo; Samuel and Ryta Sciullo; Al and Elizabeth Sciullo; and in-laws, Bill and Anne Lattimore. Gene was born in Vandergrift, PA, where he attended Vandergrift High School. He continued his studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a member of the Pitt Debate team and joined the Air Force ROTC program, earning the Outstanding Cadet award. Throughout the years, many of us were reminded of Dad's debate skills when we tried to extend a curfew or argue politics. Upon graduation, he was stationed at Mitchell Air Force Base on Long Island, where he met his lifelong love, Pat. The guy from Vandergrift with deep Italian roots and the lovely Irish redhead from NY, made quite the match, which lasted 64 never-dull years. The couple moved to Pittsburgh and started their family in Castle Shannon. Gene started his business, Castle Claims Service, in the basement of the family's Castle Shannon home. He worked tirelessly to create a successful business that grew to three offices before he retired in 2007 after 40 years. With Pat's encouragement, they built a home at Lake Latonka where they spent many years enjoying the friendships and memories they made there. Eventually, (with another nudge from Pat) they moved to Edgewater, FL, enjoying retirement and family and friends near there. Gene enjoyed singing with friends in the Edgewater Landing Choir. For three years he cared for Pat through her long illness and would faithfully bring her the host after Saturday, evening Mass. Gene always had a desire to help his community, whether by serving on Castle Shannon Borough Council or on the Lake Latonka Dam Committee (and yes, we had some jokes about that committee name!). Wherever he went, Gene was a bright spot in the room, making many close friends throughout his life. He was extremely proud of his sons, daughters, and grandchildren. He was always interested in what they were doing and offered advice and support where he could.Gene was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend. We will miss his terrible jokes and his phone calls from Florida when he saw snow predicted, wanting to know if we were OK. Friends will be received at the JOHN F.
