I just found out today of Richard's passing. I extend my deepest sympathies to the family. Please find comfort in knowing that the word tells us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We shall see him again!

As I am still processing the thoughts of one of my closest friends, traveling to "the "KINGS HIGHWAY". The Great memories I have of our friendship and escapades will last me a life time! Rich was so real and down to earth! We talked about everything from our childhood, to our neighborhood to our adulthood, religion, politics and sports, nothing was off limits! True to the King tradition, you were as intelligent as they come. A true gifted athlete, musician, soldier and human being are some of the qualities possessed by Rich. A man that truly loved his wife and sons and siblings and the rest of his family! A very deep thinker and dedicated to his Christian beliefs. I am thankful for someone who was not afraid to be himself and allowed me to be myself! You will be missed but not forgotten! King Richard, keep playing that heavenly trumpet, until we meet up again. My friend for a lifetime! Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not Heal!
Love, Jimmy Powell

I will remember his laugh and smile all the while giving it to you on the court. We had so much fun playing. A good friend, a great man.
