Steve Paulovich Obituary

Steve Paulovich 88, of Cabot, PA passed away in Butler Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born to Steve and Estelle (Konesky) Paulovich December 14,1937 in New Kensington, PA. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Crowe) Paulovich, sister, Donna Hooper, and step grandson, Saige Knapp. Steve is survived by his daughter, Sharon Paulovich of Centreville, VA, son, Stephen Paulovich of Louisville, KY, granddaughter, Arabella Paulovich, and many nieces and nephews, who he loved very much. Additional survivors include his stepchildren, Billy Jo Knapp of Sarver PA, Kim (Kent) Whirlow of Valencia, PA, Rege (Kathy Snow) Knapp Jr. of Saxonburg, PA, Sharon (Kim Young) Knapp of Albion NY; and his step grandchildren Kai Whirlow, Kyri Whirlow, Shane Knapp, and Shelby (Wayne) Lonce.

For nearly 40 years, Steve was a talented machinist, designer, and foreman at National Torch Tip in Aspinall, PA. He had no formal engineering education but if anyone needed a part that couldn't be found at a hardware store or an invention prototype that would make one of his friends the next millionaire, he would sketch it and then create it. After his retirement, he accepted a brief position as a consultant for his former employer who was setting up a gauge manufacturing company in South Dakota. If you knew Steve, I am certain that you remember the cherished stories he told over and over again about his adventures in South Dakota.

Steve was a gifted athlete with a spirit for adventure. From hockey, water skiing, and hunting in his early years, to softball, golf and bowling in his "golden years." He was very proud of the trophies and recognitions he earned for his athletic accomplishments. A boat owner for most of his life, Steve cherished the time he spent with family and friends on his boat. It was during those times that many precious memories were created.

Steve was a generous man to those who knew him as dad, husband, grandfather, uncle, stepdad, and friend. He never hesitated to lend a hand when someone was in need, and took pleasure sharing what he had with family and friends. His outgoing and genuine personality left a lasting impression on all who knew him. You are forever in our hearts. Rest in peace.

Interment will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lower Burrell, PA. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
