Vito J. Alioto

1931 - 2025

Vito J. Alioto, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 14, 1931, Vito was the 11th child of Giovanni and Rosa (Machi) Alioto. Vito is survived by his loving wife of almost 66 years, Mary (Prodente) Alioto; daughter, Roseann (David) Funyak; and sons, Rick and Tom (Amy) Alioto. Proud grandfather to Nick (Kirstie) Funyak, Dana, Mike Funyak, Emilie (fiance Kerem Caglayan), Daniel, and Courtney Alioto; and great-grandfather to Merryn and Thea Funyak. Additionally, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Vito was a proud member of the ISDA and Amity Lodge. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, PA 15007. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at Sts. Martha and Mary Parish - St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 2554 Wildwood Road, Allison Park, PA 15101. Entombment will follow at Christ Our Redeemer, Northside Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Vito's caretakers at the Province of Wexford and Vitas Healthcare. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tunnel to Towers, or the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Scholarship Fund.
