Rev. Dr. Terry L. Davis

Rev. Dr. Terry L. Davis, 48, of Monessen, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Jefferson Hospital. Pastor Davis was the son of Ressie (Sanders) Davis and the late Rev. Edward Davis. Rev Davis was ordained into the ministry 1991 under Rev. Robert Grayson, in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Terry Davis and wife, Pastor Shelia Davis, are the founders of Newness of Life Ministries which was birthed in Northeast Washington in 1991. Pastor Terry, along with his wife, moved to the Mon Valley area in 1995 when they became the co-pastors of New Salem Baptist Church in New Salem, Pa. In June of 1997, Dr. Terry and Pastor Shelia opened the doors of Newness of Life Ministries Center at 489 McKee Ave., Monessen. Pastor Terry received his doctorate in 2007 from Florida Beacon Bible College. Pastor Terry, working with Youth Works, opened the church doors the past seven years during the months of June through August to youth from around the nation to worship on what was known as WWOW (Wild Worship on Wednesday). Pastor Davis also started a men's bible study on Thursday nights called Man-2-Man Men's Bible Fellowship, in which many young men's lives were changed. Pastor Terry appeared and ministered on Cornerstone Television numerous times. Besides being known as a pastor, Dr. Terry was a well-established author, who has published several books. Dr. Terry and Pastor Shelia were also the co-founders of the Hungry for Him Church Fellowship in which churches from many states were involved. In addition to the Fellowship of Churches, Dr. Terry and Pastor Shelia also started the Hungry For Him Conference, which started at the Holiday Inn in Belle Vernon, and for the past few years has been held at the Holiday Inn in Uniontown. Dr. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Edward Davis; and a brother, Bruce Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Pastor Shelia Davis; son, whom he loved very much, Desmond D. Davis; his mother, Ressie (Sanders) Davis, of Monessen; and a brother, Gary Davis, of South Carolina. He is survived by his father-in-law, Henry F. Hall Sr., of Monessen, who traveled intensively with him; brothers-in-law, Elder Recardo (Eva) Hall Sr., Thomas Hall, both of Monessen, and Janson (Wanda) Hall, of Davidsonville, Md.; sisters-in-law, R. Marie Hall, Mary D. Gill and Yvette Hall Williams, all of Monessen. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Gospel Concert to follow at 8:30 p.m. at Newness of Life Ministries Church, 489 McKee Ave., Monessen. Celebration of life service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Center Church located at 130 Charity Lane, Belle Vernon.
