Alfred Brunner Obituary

Alfred G. Brunner, 80, of Castle Shannon, died Thursday, April 1, 2010. He was born in McKees Rocks to the late Cecilia Venus Brunner and Ludwig Brunner. He is survived by his sister, Eleanor G. Martin, of Castle Shannon. He was predeceased by John Brunner, Bertha Muth, Julia Dietz, Mary Dunnigan, Nicholas Brunner, Hilda Brunner, the Rev. Frank Brunner and Anna Brunner, with whom he lived at the Grenadier Condominiums in Castle Shannon. Alfred is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was loved and admired by family and friends, including his dear buddy, James Laffey. He was especially known for his sense of humor and as the Cat-in-the-Hat grocery bagger at Foodland, Lebanon Shops. Al was an avid reader (known by everyone at the Mt. Lebanon Library), he was a poet and he knew it and was also an Army Korean War veteran. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227. Funeral Prayer at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anne Church. If desired, family suggests contributions to St. Anne School, Endowment Fund, 4040 Willow Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15234. Please send condolences to www.johnfslater.com.
