Barbara Skiba Obituary

Barbara Elaine Skiba, 74, born June 11, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., to Max and Lorraine Zarnek, went to be with her Lord Thursday, May 7, 2009. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 40 years, Henry L. "Hank" Skiba. She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Lennertz; son, Robert H. Skiba and his wife, Mary, of Sugar Land, Texas; grandson, Leo A. Skiba and his wife, Rebecca, of Pearland, Texas; granddaughter, Alyssa Claire Skiba, of Niantic, Conn.; Goddaughter, Leah Gauthier; and also many nieces and nephews. Barb attended the University of Chicago and, after completing her studies, chose a career as an X-ray technician and mammographer. After relocating to Allison Park with Hank and Bob in 1971, Barb accepted a position at Suburban General Hospital, where she retired after 23 years of service. Barb developed many lifelong friendships while working at Suburban General. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at NEELY'S, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.
