Charles Kraus Obituary

Charles Robert "Chuck" Kraus, 89, of Mt. Lebanon, passed peacefully Friday, April 10, 2015. Chuck was born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 17, 1925, a son of late Joseph Benedict and Josephine Kelleher Kraus. He was the father of Paul David and Richard Scott Kraus (Wendy); former husband of Betty Rupert Kraus; brother of John Kraus (Dolly) and the late Rita Wilson (Robert), Lois Kraus, Helen Mc Meekin (Bill), Erma Merecky (Sigmund), Joseph Kraus (Helen), Larry Kraus (Loretta), Ray Kraus (Helen) and William Kraus (Ruth); also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Chuck was an exceptional friend to Beverly Fife Krieger and her late son, Norman. He served in the Navy during World War II and fought in the Pacific Theatre in 1944 and 1945. He also saw combat action in the Borneo, Bataan and Corregidor Campaigns. He was assigned to the U.S.S. LCS (L) 48. Chuck was a longtime auto dealer and the owner of Powers Lincoln-Mercury and Key Toyota both formerly located on historic "Auto Row" of W. Liberty Avenue in the South Hills. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Bernard Church. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. www.laughlinfuneralhome.com.
