Ciara Hasselman Obituary
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Plum Borough. Everyone please meet at church. Interment to follow in Plum Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Presbyterian Senior Care, 1215 Hulton Road, Oakmont, PA 15139, where Ciara volunteered or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org. Online condolences may be made to: www.englishfuneralhome.com.

Dear Dr. Hasselman and family,
My daughter Allegra (you performed two ankle repairs on her six or seven years ago) and I were so very sorry to hear about your daughter. It is a loss that no parent should ever have to experience. Ciara was clearly a beautiful girl, and knowing how kind you are, we know that she was a caring person. I lost a son in 2007, so I truly understand what you are going through. Words are totally inadequate in this situation, but please know that my heart is with you. I hope that it may help in some small measure to know that we are thinking about you and hoping for strength and peace for all of you. Your lives will never be the same, but somehow we do find the strength to go on. This kind of grief can be very lonely because most people really can't understand the depth of the pain. If any of you feel that you would like to talk to others who have been through it, there is a group called The Compassionate Friends made up of people who have lost a child, grandchild, or sibling. Sometimes it helps just to know that you are not alone. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
