It has been almost a year since the death of Dr. Reed. I miss him terribly and think of him and the family he left behind daily. I hope and pray his family is doing well. No matter what Dr. Reed will always be my doctor, I won't even delete his numbers from my cell. Dr., Reed was more than a doctor he was a warm, kind, and always smiling man who always had kind words and/or words of wisdom. I miss our talks and him yelling at me for not taking better care of myself.

To the family of Dr. Reed, My wife and I were in shock to have learned of the passing of my friend, Dr. Reed. I had no trust in doctors but he changed that for me. May the prays of your family, friends and associates of your husband bring comfort to you as you go on with your lives. He will always be near in your hearts. God Bless, Harry and Valerie (Diggs)

I just received my letter informing me of the passing of Doctor Reed. I am still in shock. He was a wonderful and caring person. Having to find another Doctor will be very difficult. It's hard to find one so caring and passionate for his patients. My deepest sympathy to your family.

I moved to Ben Avon 15 years ago and was concerned about finding a physician. Dr. Reed was referred to me by my neighbor, who is now in a nursing home. He has helped me physically and emotionally thoughout the years. I would bring he and the office staff sweets from our local bakeries. He admitted he liked them, but would say "you don't have to do this" he especially liked the mini decorated cakes. He helped me prepare for a three month business trip to the Phillipines and I brought him back a letter opener. He was so excited! That day I felt like I finally did something for him. The world has lost a true humanitarian...May he rest in peace - well deserved. My DEEPEST SYMPATHY to his family.

I just received the letter from AGH informing me of our loss. Even though I have never met the family I want to send my sympathy on the loss of a great man. The notice mentioned his 'Patch Adams' style. That was so very true. I was never so comfortable with a doctor. I sat and cried while reading the letter. A new doctor can be assigned to the Bellevue office but they will never be able to replace Dr Reed. I will truely miss him. May God bless your family.

My wife Janet and I found Dr. Reed after a serious illness and post-operative situation left us deeply distrusting of doctors. Dr. Dave proved that there really are still doctors who take their calling and their oath seriously. The world's a sadder place without him.

Paula,Jessa, and Abby,
I only found out today about your devastating loss. I was shocked and felt so badly I was not able to attend the viewing and express my condolences in person. Girls, I remember vividly how proudly your dad spoke about you when he would come to the Peebles Open Houses. The four of you truly shined as the definition of family. Please accept my deepest sympathy and prayers for you to come to grips with his untimely passing. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please take care of each other!

Dear Bonnie, Sue and Jeff, We want to extend the love and prayers we sent to Dottie, Howdy and Paula to you because we know you are doing so much to help all the others in pain. In your own loss you might forget to take care of yourselves.
David, like you Bonnie, was fun to have in my water aerobics class in Florida. David was fit and worked to stay that way. Bob and I enjoyed his humor, his intelligence and the "little kid" inside. May God grant you the strength you need for the coming days. With love and

In his walk through life David Mark Reed really "made a difference." That God needed him now is hard to understand. Everyone who knew him
loved, admired and respected him;
and that affection only grew with time. To his wife Paula and his
two beautiful daughters and our dear
friends (his mother and father) Dottie and Howdy Reed we pray that the hole in your hearts will eventually be filled with all the loving
memories your lives have created together. David was a great doctor, a loving husband and a fun loving and devoted father who will be missed by many. We add our prayers and love to the mountain you have already. Love, Bob and Sonia Fedak

I was a patient of Dr. Reed's for over 20 years, ever since I moved to Bellevue. I also worked with him at Suburban General Hospital. He was a kind and gentle man. He was my doctor and also my friend. (He thought of all of his patients as friends) I'll miss you Dr. Reed!

To the family of Dr. Reed,
I wrote this poem for my grandfather back in 1960's when I was a teenager, but I would like to dedicate it to Dr. Reed.
When you look up into the sky tonight you see ....
Stars that represent each one of thee ...
They shimmer and shine and sparkle so ...
Just as if they'll always know.
The biggest and boldest of all stars must some day fade and fall ...
But no matter where and when they do ...
God is with them all.
You are in my prayers and thoughts.
Dr. Reed was a gentle man who was kind and enjoyed his profession. He lived life to the fullest.

Dr.Reed was my boss, mentor and friend. He was a high spirited, energetic, caring man and an unremarkable physician whose always went the extra mile.
He was a proud man who loved his family soo much. Not a day went by that he did not mention his wife Paula or his daughters Jessa and Abby and how proud he was of them.
He has taught me soo much. He always showed me such respect. He cared more than anyone I have ever known. It was a priviledge to work beside and learn from such a brilliant and compassionate man. He will truely be missed.
My sympathy to his family. If you need anything, do not hesitate to ask.

Dr. Reed started out as my boss, but quickly became my friend. He treated me and everyone else as equals. He gave great advice and asked for some in return...he trusted me as much as I trusted him. He extended his friendship to my family. When I would bring my young children in he would literally put everything else on hold and chase them up and down the halls playing "peek-a-boo". Abby and Jessa are very lucky to have grown up with him. He was a kind soul who still made house calls drove patients to and from the office and hospital. It didn't matter what a patient came in with "catchy" or not or how much money you had or didn't have, he still took a hold of your hand with a gentle yet strong embrace and looked you in the eye with warmth. We were constantly pulling pranks on each other up here in the office and his laugh was hearty and still ringing in my ears......I can't even imagine what Paula and the Girls are going through. Being his MA, his "girl", for the last 3 years my heart is hurting.

Dear Reed Familly,
I was stunned to hear of Dr. Reeds passing. I met him when I worked in a local nursing home. He was always there when you called, a proverbial Johnny-on-the spot. He always had a kind word, a gentle smile and that ever ready arm around the shoulder. He had a fondness for chocolate and I had my Dr. Reed "stash" of chocolate for him. He had a deep concern for all of his patients. The world was a better place because of him. I will miss his friendship.
May you have comfort in your memories. There is a brighter star up in heaven God bless you and keep you close.

Dear Paula and Family- I was a sales representative that had the privilege to call on Dr. Reed for the last few years. The days that I walked though his office door were special moments for me as I knew I was awaiting a gracious greeting, a smile and maybe a laugh or two regardless of how busy or difficult his day was going. Dr. Reed was a man who earned the respect and fondness of everyone I know whose life he had touched. I only hope I can carry on the lessons he taught me about treating others. I am deeply sorry that your family's blessing of having such a dear and beloved husband and father has been cut so short. I can only pray that God sustains you now and for all of the tomorrows to come.

David,
I thank you for being a great co-worker and most of all, a great mentor. Dear Paula,
David was a truly special person, he always made time to listen and to encourage. Having been a patient of his from the beginning of his practice David has helped me through many challenges and I consider him more a friend than a physician. He always spoke lovingly and with great respect of his family and was especially proud of Jessica and Abby - his eyes would light up when he spoke of them. I know that he is still looking out for you and the girls. He will always be in your hearts and the hearts of many others who he helped on a daily basis.

Dear Family and co-workers of Dr. Reed,
When I ended up with a fever last night and couldn't swallow this morning, I knew that if Dr. Reed was in today he would have helped me. He always made time in his busy schedule to take care of someone that needed immediate care too.
I was so upset upon hearing. What a tragic loss - I am so truly sorry for all of you that will miss his presence everyday.
I chose him as a doctor seven years ago because I wanted a doctor that had a gentle kind bedside manner. I am not a senior citizen (although I feel like one most of the time) but he was a great doctor to all.
I knew how proud he was of his girls. He spoke of them often to me. When I would start to cry from some of the medical complications I was having - he was always there with a warm hug or a pat on the back to say - "We'll get you better."
I always walked away more upbeat and thinking that his family must be pretty lucky to have him as a dad, husband, or son. My condolences are with you all. They are also with all of his co-workers. I know they will truly miss him too!
Thank you Dr. Reed for believing in me and helping me through the past seven years. I will truly miss you! I love you and your WHOLE STAFF!!

I am truly saddened to learn that Dr. Reed passed away. It took me a long time, but I eventually was able to read his handwriting when I was a unit secretary at SGH. He encouraged me when I attended nursing school. And, now that I am a nurse, I think of him often because of his care and concern for his patients. He was an inspiration and a wonderful man who truly loved his family. May God bless all of you at this time of sorrow. (formerly of Avalon, PA)

Dr. Reed was a people person. That is why my husband and I chose his practice 10 years ago. He was very caring and deeply concerned about the well being of his patients. He always returned calls – no matter how late and more importantly he listened to his patients’ concerns. Dr. Reed didn’t merely treat disease, he treated people. Patients could also see that he was a proud father, by looking at the displays of his children’s artwork. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
