Hugh Carnathan Obituary

Hugh Carnathan Sr., 76, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and pets Wednesday, June 15, 2016. He was born June 23, 1939, in Elizabeth, and was the son of the late Hugh and Ida Belle Parsons Carnathan. Hugh was a retired chem tech from the Production Planning Department of US Steel Edgar Thompson Works and US Steel Clairton Works. He was a Navy veteran and was a member and past president of EFAA, where he also coached wrestling, baseball and girl's softball and football. He enjoyed spending his summers at Mountain Pines Resort in Champion. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Catherine M. Danaluk Carnathan; sons, Hugh (Antoinette) Carnathan, of Elizabeth Township, Steven Carnathan, of Gig Harbor, Wash., Michael Joseph Carnathan, of Elizabeth Township, and daughter, Colleen (Dan) Altavilla, of Greenock. He was the proud Pap of Ashley and Dan Altavilla and Maya Carnathan. He is also survived by his godchild, Adrienne Revetta; and his beloved dogs, Molly and Finnegan.
There is no visitation. Arrangements are by the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township, 412-751-5000, (Drew J. Gilbert, director).
