Jack Sittsamer Obituary

Jack Sittsamer, 83, of Squirrel Hill, a Holocaust survivor from Mielec, Poland, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008. He is the beloved father of Paula (Sanford) Riemer, of Squirrel Hill, and Murray Sittsamer, of West Bloomfield, Mich.; zeidy of Eric (Chava) Riemer, Danny (Meira) Riemer, Aliza Riemer, Lexie Sittsamer and Eden Sittsamer; proud papa zeidy of Eliana Riemer; son-in-law of Ruth Feldman, of Squirrel Hill; former husband of Maxine Sittsamer, of Squirrel Hill; best friend of Solange Lebovitz, of Squirrel Hill; and beloved uncle, cousin and friend to many. Mr. Sittsamer was an employee of Tyson Metal Producers for 36 years and was a member of Sheet Metal Union Local No. 12. He was also a member of the Oakland-Solomon Masonic Lodge. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the BURTON L. HIRSCH FUNERAL HOME INC., 2704 Murray Ave., Squirrel Hill, 412-521-2600. Interment to follow in Homestead Hebrew Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, 5738 Darlington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15217 or the Sittsamer Fund for Holocaust Studies, University of Pittsburgh, Arts & Sciences Development Office, 910 Cathedral of Learning, Pittsburgh, PA 15260.
