Marilyn Crolla Obituary

CROLLA, Marilyn Ann (nee Rodwell) January 9, 1948 - November 26, 2005 Kanata, Ontario, CANADA. It is with great sadness we announce today, after a long yet courageous battle with cancer that Marilyn Ann Crolla (nee Rodwell) passed away at the age of 57, on Saturday, November 26, 2005. Throughout her illness she continued to be an inspiration to us all, showing incredible strength and fortitude, never losing her spirit, love of life or her sense of humour, despite all that she faced, her friendly and caring nature shone through. Marilyn knew from the beginning that it was going to be an uphill struggle and faced it with realism, courage, sheer determination and a firm hope that she would be one of the fortunate ones, unfortunately, her miracle never came. Marilyn was a Canadian and British Citizen, born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England, she lived there for many years, before emigrating to Canada with her family in December 1974. Marilyn, the loving, and much-loved wife of husband John Crolla of almost 39 years. Dear mother of Jeffrey Paul (Martha) Toronto; Jennifer Ann (fiance Max) Calgary; Wendy Jane, Toronto. Marilyn held each of them in her thoughts, daily. All residents of Canada. A most dearly loved and cherished daughter (an only child) she will be sadly missed by her surviving parents, Clarence Percy Rodwell and Irene Maude (nee Millson) of New Waltham, Lincolnshire, England. Precious niece to Auntie June (nee Simons) Uncle (Roey) Roland Millson, Auntie (Do) Dorothy (nee Rodwell) and Uncle (Ron) Ronald Baumber (dec'd), of Grimsby, England. Will also be sadly missed by several other aunts, uncles and cousins living in England and the United States of America. Daughter-in-law to Marcus Crolla and Marjory (dec'd), sister-in-law to Veronica (nee Hall) and Philip Crolla (dec'd), Mark Crolla and Gloria (nee Clarke), also Terry Crolla (dec'd). Her passing will also be felt by very good friends in Canada and South Africa, that have been touched by her grace, caring and warmth. In keeping with Marilyn's wishes a memorial service will be held in the presence of her ashes at The Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd, Ottawa, (between Bayshore Drive and Baseline Road) on Thursday, December 1st, 2005 in the chapel at 2:00 pm. A similar memorial service will be held in the near future at Humberston Parish Church, Grimsby, England (where Marilyn and John married almost 39 years ago) for family and friends living in England, who were unable to travel to Canada for the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Centre Research Foundation, or to a similar organisation of your choice would be very much appreciated. All condolences, tributes or donations may be made at the Tubman Funeral Homes - Garden Chapel. 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa, Ontario, K2A 0E9. Telephone: (613) 722-6559. www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
