Marilyn Moody Obituary

Marilyn J. Moody, 79, of Mars, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 6, 2013, in UPMC Passavant, Cranberry. Born in Butler, Jan. 8, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mona Haun Shermer. Marilyn had been the co-owner and secretary/treasurer of the family business, M.R. Moody Sales and Service, in Mars. She was a member of Valencia Presbyterian Church and, in her younger years, had taught Sunday school, and had been a Cub Scout leader and den mother. She enjoyed shopping, painting and crafting, reading and had a passion for cooking. She also did Silver Sneakers at Penn-Mar Plaza. Surviving are her husband, Monte R. Moody, whom she married on Aug. 11, 1956; two daughters, Barbara Smith and Jody Kennedy, both of Mars; four sons, Bruce Moody, of Saxonburg, William Moody and his wife, Julie, of Mars, Montgomery Moody, of Zelienople, and Scott Moody and his wife, Monique, of Sarver; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma McCarthy, of Duluth, Minn. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
