Richard L. Sobeck, 61, of Pleasant Hills, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011. A committed father, Rich is survived by his cherished children, Rich (Chrissy), Tia and Luke, and their mothers, Eileen and Berni. His memory continues to live on through his beloved children. Rich was born Oct. 6, 1950, in Pittsburgh's South Side and was the loving son of the late Joseph and Hattie Sobeck. He was the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters and is survived by Eileen (the late Ron), Connie, Joe (Viv), Diana (Chuck), and Rob (Dana). He was preceded in death by siblings, Albert (Lynn), Kathleen, LaVerne (the late Tony) and Lu. He leaves many nieces and nephews. Rich graduated from St. Michael's High School in South Side. He served his country as a member of the Army, a Vietnam-era veteran. Upon returning from active duty, he worked at US Steel Corporation and the federal government s Pittsburgh Research Laboratory of CDC/NIOSH in Bruceton, where he retired in 2010. Everyone who knew Rich, laughed with Rich. He enjoyed the Steelers and the Penguins, The King and oldies music. Not one to ever back down, Rich lived his life "His Way." He never gave up.
