Ruth Bennett Obituary

Ruth Bennett, 89, of Washington, Pa., formerly of Pleasant Hills, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, in Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington. Born Nov. 22, 1916, in West Elizabeth, a daughter of the late James and Margaret Weir Crosier. She was a retired teacher at West Jefferson Hills School District. She taught at the Jones School, starting in 1937 and retired from the Pleasant Hills School in 1979. She was member of Jefferson United Presbyterian Church. A graduate of Clairton High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was a member of "Friendly Group" at Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Community Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Bennett III, whom she married Nov. 7, 1947, in West Elizabeth. She is survived by four nieces, Kay Fries, of Newport News, Va., Bobbie Jean (John) Gecan, of Tappahannock, Va., Linda (William) Nickels, of Amity, Holly (Terry) Ladley, of Baldwin; and two nephews, Park Crosier, of Canonsburg, and Dean (Sue) Crosier, of Bethel Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 221 Second St., Elizabeth Borough. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert W. Koschik officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, PA 15301 or Jefferson United Presbyterian Church, 716 Gill Hall Road, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025.
