Walter O. Goehring II

1942 - 2016

Walter Orr Goehring II, 74, of McCandless Township, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, with his loving family at his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen E. Goehring; loving father of Orr (Elizabeth) Goehring and Joe (Debra) Goehring; dear grandfather of Emily, Michael, Isabella, Felicia and William; brother of Robert Warren Goehring, of O'Hara Township, and Thomas James Goehring, of Concord, Calif. He was born in Pittsburgh, Sept. 25, 1942, to the late Walter Orr Goehring and Lucille G. Goehring. He earned an MBA in hospital administration from the University of Chicago and served as Vice President of Administration for Passavant Hospital from 1978 to 1995, where he was instrumental in implementing an MRI facility and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Services program. He played guitar, learned to fly a Cessna and enjoyed ham radio. He had a quiet strength, dry wit and above all, a deep and abiding love for his family. He will be deeply missed.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, North Hills. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment private.
