Rose Channas Obituary

Rose Channas, 96, a lifelong resident of Heidelberg, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017. She was born Feb. 7, 1920, to the late John and Mary Pawlik. She was also predeceased by her husband of nearly 40 years, Peter Channas; siblings, Evelyn, Andrew, Alex, Ann, Tatiana, Peter, John and Helen; and nephew, Jack. She served in the Navy during World War II, graduating at the top of her class after completing basic training. She attended Robert Morris Business School and Allegheny County Community College, retiring from John J. Kane Hospital, where she worked as a nursing assistant and later as a licensed practical nurse. Left to cherish her memory are devoted children, Linda Mason (Ron), of Springfield, Va., James, of Heidelberg, Marianne Cockroft (Gregg), of Cary, N.C., and Robert (Diane), of Millersville, Md.; grandchildren, Kim Griffin, David and Steven Cockroft, Lauren Oakes, Bryan and Leah Channas; great-grandchildren, Connor and Ryan Griffin, Owen and Austin Cockroft and Amelia Oakes; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, in Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church, Carnegie.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to you and your family during this difficult Time. I hope the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring you some comfort. Just knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
