Mary Lou Pogany

1935 - 2016

Mary Lou Pogany, 81, of Baldwin, passed away quietly surrounded by family on Monday morning, July 25, 2016. Mary Lou was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Pittsburgh, to the late James Albert Prophater and Elizabeth Jenkins. After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1952, she had a job as a secretary at Baldwin High School. On Nov. 6, 1954, she married her true love, Joseph Stephen Pogany, who survives. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together. Mary Lou was an avid reader, loved puzzles and playing Scrabble. If the Pirates were playing you can be sure she had them on TV. She was a second shift supervisor at South Hills Computer Center in Large. Over the years, Mary Lou held several jobs typing and keypunching while raising her six children. Of everything she has done, Mary Lou was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Family was always most important to her. In addition to her husband, Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Shirley Grayson Bonazza (Patrick), Linda March Nagy (Ed) and Debby McSwiggen (Chris); and sons, Raymond Pogany (Cheryl), Wayne Pogany (Lori) and David Pogany (Jenn). She was a loving grandmother to her 12 grandchildren, Geoffry Grayson (Jody), Amanda Spangler (Aaron), Kathy Radcliffe (Jimmy), Ronnie Pogany (Ashley), April March, Leah Calabria (Pete), Michael Pogany, Shawn McSwiggen, Tyler Pogany, Shane Pogany, Owen Pogany and Garrett Pogany. She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Jimmy Radcliffe, Jaycee Radcliffe, Amelia Grayson, Hadley Grayson, Eva Spangler, Natalie Spangler, Genevieve Spangler, McKenzie Pogany and Madison Pogany.
