Andreas "Andrew, Andy" Nicholas Sotos

June 9, 1938 – January 18, 2025
Andy died suddenly at home in his favorite surroundings on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, attended by his nephew, Laz. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Stefanos Sotos (emigrated from Greece in 1921 and died in 1982) and Ifigenia (Sakellariou) Sotos (emigrated from Greece in 1937 and died in 1975) and preceded in death by his brothers Lazaros "Larry" N. Sotos, M.D. (Pamela) and Steven Nicholas Sotos, M.D. (Willie). Andy is survived by his brother, Peter Nicholas Sotos, M.D. (Kristina) of Freeport, PA, and his nephews and nieces Lazros, who was his caregiver and resided with Andy, Nicholas, Kyriakos, Stephnie and Cassandra as well as several grandnieces and nephews. Andrew was a proud first-generation Greek American and a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral where he was baptized. He graduated from Peabody High School in Highland Park in 1956 and attended the University of Pittsburgh, earning Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration. He lived most of his adult life at the family home on North Negley Avenue and worked at Westinghouse Corporation, Nuclear Division in Monroeville as a Senior Purchasing Agent and served in the U.S. Army. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Wednesday, Jan. 22 in the afternoon only from 1 – 4 p.m., due to inclement weather. Funeral Thursday, Jan. 23 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral at noon with the burial immediately following at Homewood Cemetery.
