Andrew N. Deeter

1936 - 2017

Andrew Neil Deeter, 80, of Berlin, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017. He was born Dec. 11, 1936, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late Harry William and Clara Rosa (Schaedler) Deeter. Mr. Deeter was a 1954 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and a 1961 graduate of Indiana State College, now known as Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After college, Mr. Deeter worked as a history teacher in both the Salisbury Elk Lick and Berlin Brothersvalley school districts. His later career included positions in school administration and time served as superintendent of Berlin and Rockwood Schools. Mr. Deeter is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor (Brodak) Deeter; his brother, John Deeter and his wife, Darlene, of Richmond, Va.; his children, Harry Deeter, of Berlin, Pa., Matt Deeter and his wife, Luane, of Clemmons, N.C., and Laura Lavoie and her husband, Robert, of Springfield, Ohio; his grandchildren, Zachary Deeter and his wife, Christi, Jordan Deeter, Kathya Deeter, Mallory Deeter, Andrew Ian Deeter, Luke Deeter, Nicholas Lavoie, Claire Lavoie and Emmaline Lavoie; and great-grandson, Isaac Deeter. Andy was accomplished at masonry and woodworking, completing many heirlooms to be cherished by his family. He was an avid outdoorsman with a particular love for fishing. The Deeter family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the various caregivers in the medical community for their compassionate care of Andy during his illnesses.
At Andy's request, no services will be held. All arrangements are under the direction of the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant.
