Andrew "Andy" Muha, 85, of Gibsonia, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022. A devout Catholic, he was leaving to attend Mass to celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent when the Lord called him home. A lifelong Pittsburgh resident, Andy was born May 21, 1937, to Andrew and Susan Muha. Andy was the third of four brothers. Andy was a well-liked, very sociable person for his whole life. After graduating from Homestead High School, Class of 1955, Andy trained to be a journeyman machinist and also as a tool and die maker. He worked at multiple companies over the course of his career, including Mesta Machinery and Mine Safety Appliance Co. In summer 1959, Andy married his beloved, Marcie Smiley. When they started their family, they moved to their first home in West Mifflin, where they lived for 59 years and raised their five children. Andy and Marcie were married for 61 years, and he missed her deeply since her passing in Jan. 2021. He was truly skilled at so many things and he would gladly teach them to anyone who was interested. He had a green thumb and loved spending hours tending to his gardens, watching the birds, and of course, showing anyone and everyone pictures of his flowers. He was a talented artist, making many oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings over his lifetime to decorate his and Marcie's home and the homes of his family, friends, and neighbors. As Scout leader for many years, his former scouts, children and grandchildren will always remember his wisdom and the silly campfire songs he taught. The role he was best at, though, was loving his family. He was a very hard worker and always made sure his family was taken care of, even when circumstances were tight. He enjoyed just "going for a drive," taking his kids on memorable summer vacations, and in his later years, he also accompanied his family to the beach, on the bike trails of Pittsburgh and by Deep Creek Lake. As a loving father, he was immensely proud of each of his children's varied talents and would boast to anyone who would listen. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, and he would religiously follow their sports teams, attend their recitals and share their latest writings or accomplishments. Andy --"Pap"-- meant so much to so many people. He could make friends with anyone. He was always present, an amazing listener and had a knack for finding out anyone's life story. He relished in telling his own entertaining stories, even about the most seemingly ordinary things. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. He is survived by his brother, the Rev. Joseph Muha, of Boise, Idaho; his brother, Jim (Cathy) Muha, of South Park; his son, David (Emily) Muha, of Reston, Va.; his daughters, Susan (James) Oskin, of Erie, Chris (Jerome) Gibas, of Greensburg, Bonnie (Rich) Allessi, of Wexford, Teresa (Mark) Miesel, of South Park; and his eight grandchildren, Jacob, Jennifer, Anna, Noelle, Jonathan, Ryan, Megan and Michael. Pap was also thrilled that he was going to be a great-grandfather to twin baby girls due in March 2023. Andy was preceded in death by his brother, Martin, in addition to his parents. A Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Saints Martha and Mary Parish, St. Richard Church, Gibsonia. Afterward, all are welcome to join the family for a meal and celebration of life at 11:30 a.m. Hampton Banquet Hall on Route 8. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Andrew Muha's name to Carnegie Libraries of Pittsburgh. Condolences for the family are being accepted at Bonnie Allessi, 261 McKinney Road, Wexford, PA 15090, or please visit
