Audrey J. Helms

Audrey J. Helms, 77, of Connellsville (Bullskin Township), passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at the home of her daughter, Georgia Snyder, in Scottdale, with whom she was residing. She was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Brier Hill, Fayette County, a daughter of the late John W. and Anna Mae Logsdon Lilley. Audrey was a lifelong resident of Bullskin Township. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a secretary for the City of Connellsville, with the Green Thumb Program in Connellsville, and finally for Snyder Trucking Co. in Scottdale. She was a member and one of the Founding Daughters of the Pleasant Valley Community Church in Bullskin Township. She was also a member of the Connellsville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, the Wagoneers and the Appalachian Wagon Train. Audrey will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving family; her children, George R. Helms Jr. and his wife, Debra, and John W. Helms and his wife, Darla, all of Connellsville, Yvonne Murray, of South Connellsville, Beverly Weaver and her husband, Roy, of Mt. Pleasant, Georgia Snyder and her husband, Reon, of Scottdale, and Lynette Henry and her husband, Charles, and Brenda Groh and her husband, Stephen "Buzzy," all of Connellsville; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Marie Wingard, June Wingrove and Elizabeth "Betty" Butler, all of Connellsville, and Arlene Bryan and her husband, Richard, of Pinellas Park, Fla. In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband, George R. Helms Sr., in 1991; three grandsons, Reon Snyder Jr., Brent Weaver and Brian J. McInerney; a sister, Leona Bush; a brother, John R. Lilley; and a special friend, Joseph E. Greene. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville. Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, the hour of a funeral service, in the Pleasant Valley Community Church, Bullskin Township, with the Rev. Joseph Wingrove Jr. officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
