Betty E. Leair

1929 - 2024

Betty E. Leair, 94, of Lycippus, died Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 1, 1929, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Bernetta M. (Roadman) Sindorf. She previously worked at the former Baum's Nursing Home in Pleasant Unity and the former Howard Johnson's in New Stanton. Betty enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and sewing, and was a member of Church of the Brethren, Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orvis E. Leair, Sr.; a son, Orvis E. Leair, Jr.; two sisters, Helen Quist and Isabelle Wineland; and a brother, Robert Smeltzer. She is survived by a son, Gary L. Leair and wife Kathryn; her daughter, Melanie G. Plummer, all of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Christy Queer (Scott), Deborah Richardson (Nathaniel), David Plummer and Stephen Plummer; three great-grandchildren, Parker Queer, Brooke Richardson and Reid Richardson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with The Rev.
