Catherine Agostinone Obituary

Catherine T. (Churbock) Agostinone, 95, of Latrobe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 17, 1930, in Loyalhanna, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Kissell) Churbock. A graduate of Derry Area High School and Miss Conley's Secretarial School in Pittsburgh, Catherine managed the bookkeeping for the family business. Family was always the center of Catherine's life. After raising her children, she became an avid golfer and a member of the Latrobe Elks. A wonderful cook, she learned many authentic Italian dishes from her mother-in-law, Antoinette Agostinone, while living at Agostinone's Tavern in Bradenville. She was also a talented seamstress and known for her impeccable sense of style. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman "Armand" Agostinone, and brothers, Joseph (Grace), Jacob (Mamie), and John (Elizabeth) Churbock. She is survived by her seven children: Tony Agostinone of Alexandria, VA, Jim Agostinone (Anne) of Latrobe, Mamie McMaster (Brian) of Charlotte, NC, Armand Agostinone (Bobbi) of Latrobe, Paula Johns (Billy) of Latrobe; Monica Pineau (John) of Beverly Beach, MD, and Gennie Sizemore (David) of Delmont. Catherine's legacy also lives on through her 14 grandchildren, Ivy, Dana, Wes, Rena, Lexie, Nicola, Maria, Katie, Catrina, Angela, Johnny, Paula, Aidan, and Lucas; six great-grandchildren, Eva, Brodie, Vander, Ronan, Lochlan, and Frankie; and two great-great-grandchildren, Arya and Ayla. She is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses at Independence Health and the aides at Barnes House and St. Ann's for the compassionate care and kindness they provided to Catherine in her final months. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at St. Rose Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Ron Maquinana as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe.
