Chalmers Goodlin Obituary

Chalmers H. "Slick" Goodlin, 82, of West Palm Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, in his residence. He was born in Greensburg, Jan. 2, 1923, a son of the late William B. and Susan Ramaly Goodlin. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the U.S. Navy, where he was a pilot. Chalmers was a self-employed test pilot. He was chairman and chief executive officer of Burnelli Co. Inc. and was CEO of Boreas Corp. in Florida. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. Goodlin and Richard B. Goodlin. Chalmers is survived by his wife, Aila Kaarina Vainio Goodland, of Finland; a brother, E. Alton Goodlin; and sister, Myla Shestik and husband, Robert, of New Alexandria; two nieces, Susan Ludwig and Cindy Burnham and husband, Matthew; and two children, Kaylee and Taylor; and a nephew, William B. Goodlin and daughter, Joy. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Community United Presbyterian Church in New Alexandria with the Rev. Terry J. Carnahan officiating. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Johns Harrold United Church of Christ Cemetery, Greensburg RD11. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community United Presbyterian Church of New Alexandria.
