He also enjoyed baking bread, cakes, cinnamon rolls, and pies for the family. On weekends he rebuilt and painted damaged autos to use or sell. He was inducted into the Army on Dec. 6, 1951, in Connellsville and was processed at the 2053rd Reception Center at Fort Meade, Maryland. He was assigned to the 101 ft Airborne Division at Camp Brekinridge, Kentucky, for basic training. Hensel, on July 13, 1956; a sister, Helen Hensel DeMiere; and brothers, Paul Hensel, Earl G. Hensel, and Sidney R. Hensel.
