Charles Simoni Obituary

Charles J. "Chas" Simoni Sr., 74, of Tarentum, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025. Born Jan. 11, 1951, in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Peter G. and Mary Sam Simoni and the stepson of the late Oscar Berkoben. Chas was a proud member of the first graduating class of Valley High School in 1968. After earning his associate's degree, he went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army during 1971. Chas went on to build a long career as an electronic repairman, working 31 years at Allegheny Ludlum and later 17 years with Blackburn Pharmacy. A devoted member of Guardian Angels Parish, Chas was also a passionate sports enthusiast and loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. His love of athletics extended into his community, where for nearly 40 years he coached baseball and officiated PIAA football. For two decades, he also gave his time to the Diamond Club Bingo. Outside of work and volunteering, Chas delighted in cooking and baking, playing games with his grandchildren, and gathering with family for cards. Above all, family was the center of his life, and he cherished time with his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Monica (Stanzione) Simoni; his children, Charles "Chas" (Lisa) Simoni Jr., of Tarentum, and Melanie (Brian) Ferra, of Lower Burrell; his grandchildren: Gianna, Sophia, Addison Simoni, Bailey, Maia, Dominic, and Nikolas Ferra; and his siblings: David (Nancy) Simoni of Arnold, Jeffery (Susan) Simoni and Mark (Carol) Simoni, both of New Kensington, and Terri Simoni Adams, of Leechburg. Chas will be remembered for his dedication to family, his love of sports, and his generous spirit that touched the lives of so many. Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065, (724-224-7730). My deepest condolences to the entire Simoni Family! Chas was a beautiful person both inside and out who I had the pleasure of knowing from childhood on his Father´s baseball team through high school, the Mill and present day. May you find solace in knowing that he loved his family very much and put his faith in God & country next to that love. May he rest in peace with the Lord! Jim Salem

Charles (Chas Jr.) I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. I am absolutely positive he was a great man even though I never knew him personally, but I know his son and that's enough. You and your family are in my prayers & thoughts always. God bless all of you.

I am saddened by Chas's passing. He was always a gentleman and so kind. When we would see each other,no matter how much time passed, it was always comfortable like we just saw each other two days ago. He had that warmth, even in high school. May his family find peace knowing what a wonderful human being he was and how he loved them. I will miss you, ole friend.
