Christine Hampton Obituary

Christine E. "Chris" Gendek Hampton, 36, of Greensburg, went to be with her savior on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Aug. 8, 1967, Chris was the daughter of Theodore and Sandra Jamison Gendek, granddaughter of Theodore and Edith Gendek and the late George and Mary Jamison. Chris was a 1985 graduate of Hempfield High School and an Aug. 2002 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. She was a member of South Greensburg United Methodist Church, where she was very active in many capacities. She worked at Allegheny Energy for 20 years and her last position was a manager in the auditing department. Chris is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Matthew R. Hampton, and their children, Sarah and Riley, whom she adored; three sisters, Jacqueline Hemenway and her husband, James, and their daughter, Micah, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gwendolyn Heckman and her husband, Kirk, and their sons, Owen and Samuel, of Westerville, Ohio, and Jennifer Skerbetz and her husband, William, and their children, Emilee, Abigail and William, of Granville, Ohio; her mother-in-law, Jan Hampton; brothers and sisters-in-law; also aunts, uncles and many cousins who loved her dearly. Friends will be received at the KEPPLE GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in South Greensburg United Methodist Church, where the service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Darrell L. Greenawalt officiating. Interment will follow in Hillview Cemetery, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, Chris asked that donations be made to the Chris Hampton Fund, c/o First National Bank, North Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, for the benefit of her children. Terence L.
