Clifford C. Mickanin

Clifford Carl Mickanin, 89, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at his home. He was born Aug. 29, 1925, in McKeesport, a son of the late Stephen and Anna Disco Mickanin. Clifford was retired from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, where he had worked for more than 31 years as a street serviceman and equipment operator. He had been active in the Boy Scouts where he served as an assistant scoutmaster and participated in the Order of the Arrow. Clifford was an active outdoorsman, enjoying camping and hunting. He had been a life member of the Shaner Sportsmen Association and took pleasure in target shooting in his later years. Clifford also had a fondness for Lionel Trains and "tube" radios. He had completed an electronics correspondent course when radios were just becoming poplular. Growing up on a Pennsylvania farm, taught Clifford the true value of hard work and the insight on how to fix almost anything. He will be deeply missed and always loved. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, A. Bernice Long Mickanin; and brother, Sylvester. He is survived by his three sons, Wesley and his wife, Ellen, Dennis and his wife, Donna, Ronald and his wife, Rona; along with his two granddaughters Allison and Sara Mickanin; nieces and nephews; and his little buddy, Maggie Mae. Friends were received Tuesday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral service was held Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment is private.
