Constance L. Balsis

1942 - 2023

After a brave, brutal, and, gratefully brief, battle with cancer, Constance L. (Benes) Balsis, "Connie", 80, of Bethel Park, went home to be with God. She followed her parents, Francis and Mary (Tevelonis) Benes; her only sibling, Carol Beatty; dear cousins, Lois Walker and Cindy Farster, who were more like sisters, and son-in-law, Joe Bongiorno. Survived by her beloved spouse of 59 years, William "Bill"; daughters, Cheryl (Dave) Cannon, Kim (Scott Carlisle) Bongiorno and Debbie (Dan) Gasbarro; brother-in-law, Bill Beatty; and adored grandchildren, Christopher Cannon, Nick Gasbarro, Nicholas Bongiorno, Sarah Cannon and Andrew Bongiorno. Also, she survived by nephews, nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Connie was a graduate of Vandergrift High School, Class of 1960, and Duff's Business Institute. She worked at PPG prior to becoming a dedicated mother and homemaker. Connie had an extraordinary green thumb and loved to beat anyone at Scrabble. A great cook, she was known by her grandchildren as the grilled cheese master, and her baked beans were not to be missed. She was a lover of Beatrix Potter, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, musicals, Phipps Conservatory and Longwood Gardens. The Hallmark channel and Hallmark stores will miss her dedication. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at St Valentine's Church, Bethel Park.
