David Frick Obituary

David S. Frick, 81, of Indiana, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at St. Andrew's Village in Indiana, after a lengthy struggle against Alzheimer's. He looked forward to that great reunion in heaven with his Savior, Jesus Christ; the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Marty; and his parents. He is sick no more and he struggles no more, but he will be sorely missed. David was born Feb. 7, 1935, to Byron C. Frick and Mary Ellen (Shields) Frick. He went on to enjoy farming with his dad and two brothers on the family farm outside of Indiana, until his college days. At Indiana State Teachers College (IUP), he met his future wife, Marty Herr, and they married on July 27, 1957, and built a life together for 52 years before she died of cancer on Aug. 21, 2009. They had three children, Maryellen, Molly, and Chad; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. David often remarked how proud he was of his family and how grateful and thankful he was of them and his many friends, stating, "How could I have wanted for more?!" David spent two years in the Army at Fort Lee, Va., and two years teaching high school in Pittsburgh before he was hired by Mutual of New York (MONY) on April 15, 1961. David worked as an insurance specialist with MONY for 37 years, a career that he loved and excelled at. He worked with, advised and counseled more than 3,000 friends and families in the Indiana area and Western Pa. He loved his clients and served them with a servant's heart. He was the Pittsburgh agency's Man of the Year eight times. He qualified for MONY's Honor Clubs 37 times and was so thankful that God blessed him with a career that he loved. He inspired his father, Byron, his children, Molly and Chad, and his grandson, David, to all join him at his office at David Frick Associates, now in its 55th year of business. David's faith was of great importance in his life. He was a lifelong member of the Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Indiana, where he served as an elder, and was a Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years. David's faith and concern for children and youth led him to be a member of the Child Evangelism Fellowship State Board, while also serving on the county committee for decades. A board member of the Coalition for Christian Outreach, for more than 20 years he was a part of the campus ministry in the tri-state area. He enjoyed dedicating his time toward community endeavors, such as being a weekly deliverer of Meals on Wheels, as well as a three-term member of the Indiana Area School District. In 2003, the people of Indiana County elected him to his first term as an Indiana County commissioner, a position which he was honored to serve for ten years. He enjoyed his fellow commissioners and was thoroughly impressed with the employees that served the people of Indiana County. David mourned the loss of his first wife, Marty, for five years, but was fortunate to marry his childhood friend of many years, Annette Moreau Kinter, on Aug. 3, 2014. They enjoyed many months of friendship, love, companionship and conversation until David's death. David will be missed by many. He is survived by his three children, Maryellen (Frick) Dickey, and husband, Kevin, of Bethlehem, Pa., D. Chad Frick, and wife, Jill (Sitterley), of Indiana Pa., and Molly J. (Frick) Ellis, and husband, Rick, of Creekside, Pa.; his 11 grandchildren, David Frick, and wife, Alicia, Jonathan Frick, and wife, Josclin, Abigail Kowaleski, and husband, Edward, Joshua Frick, Aubrey Frick, Amy Frick, Sam Dickey, Mackenzie Dickey, Rachel Ellis, Emily Ellis, and Faith Ellis; his two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Chloe Frick; and his two brothers, Byron M. "Gary" Frick, and wife, Joyce (Peterson), of Indiana, Pa., and Thomas M. Frick, and wife, Theresa (DiTullio), of Indiana, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marty; and his niece, Leanne J. Frick.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan, 4, 2017, at the ROBINSON-LYTLE INC., in Indiana. A 10 a.m. funeral service will take place Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at the Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 640 Church St., Indiana, with the Rev. Richard E. Hurley officiating. Following the funeral service, David's family and friends are invited to remain at the church for a luncheon and celebration of David's life. A private family interment service will occur at the Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana.
Memorial contributions in honor of David may be forwarded to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 31 S. Carpenter Ave., Indiana, PA 15701. Arrangements are coordinated with the assistance of the RAIRIGH FUNERAL HOME, LTD., Hillsdale, Pa.

David was a welcoming student whom I met my first few days as a student at Indiana State Teachers College. We had many classes together, including ROTC and summer camp. He was always supportive and one of the most thoughtful and kind persons I had the pleasure of knowing for 4 years. Even though I have not been in touch for many years, he made a great impression on my life as a role model. My sincere condolences to his family.

Molly, Mary Ellen & Chad ,
We were greatly saddened to see your dad go. He was so full of joy and laughter. He definitely made an impact on so many others' lives .. And he loved to brag about you all when I would see him at church. What a great man and a great family!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this most difficult time. Losing a loved one is never easy. I met and spoke with Mr. Frick who was very pleasant and we had some very good conversations. Rest in Peace.

I pray that Dave's family members are comforted by the love of God and the presence of His Holy Spirit.

And I praise God for the witness that David Frick was, as His faithful servant. You could always tell that the love of God was in Dave, both in his speech and in his actions.

As a retired employee of the Indiana County Planning Office, I was pleased to have gotten to know him during his tenure as County Commissioner.

He was, and continues to be, an inspiration to me. I am exceedingly happy for him, knowing that he is resting with His Heavenly Father. However, I share a sense of loss with family members and others, that he no longer dwells with us.

Thank You Dave.
