Edward J. Gorecki Sr.

1928 - 2022

Edward J. Gorecki Sr., 93, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, in Hempfield Manor. Mr. Gorecki was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Albert and Virginia (Pergalski) Gorecki. He was a member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and the former Transfiguration Parish. Ed served his country as a master sergeant in the United States Army, Company E during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he had worked for General Motors in the Fisher Body Division. Ed will be sadly missed by his loving family; his children, Edward Jr. (Mary Kay) Gorecki and Gary (Mary Ann) Gorecki; his beloved grandchildren, Kelli (Jeffrey) Pastore, Amanda (Jared) Swierczynski, Lisa (Matthew) Perks, Joe (Meagan) Gorecki and Leslie (Bryan) Baumann; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Maggie, Carson, Haleigh, Lexi, Braxton, Mason, Harlie, Emily and Colt. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. "Dossie" Bailey Gorecki, his sisters, Eleanor Sheele, Cecelia Barrick Sr. Amelia, Florence Zemba, Frances Bailey and Marcella Symanski. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home followed by Ed's funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Interment with military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant in Transfiguration Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 740 Walnut St., Mt. Pleasant.
