Edward Zelenak Obituary

Edward T. Zelenak, 61, of Calumet, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, with his family by his side, in Scottdale Manor and Rehabilitation Center, after battling lung cancer. Born Nov. 7, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, he was a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Bennish Zelenak. Ed was employed in sales with Davey's Ford, Connellsville. He was a member of St. Florian Church, United, and a member of Calumet Community Club. He was a loving father to Lisa Ann Zelenak, of Bethesda, Md., and to Edward F. Zelenak, of United; and brother of Robert (Debbie) Zelenak, of Calumet. Ed played music for 40 years with his brother, Bob, in the Valentine Smith Band, where he was known to his fans as "Eddie Valentine" and "The Legend."Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Florian Church with the Rev. Richard P. Karenbauer as celebrant. Please go directly to church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to his family, P.O. Box 57, United, PA 15689.
