Elmer M. Knizner

1932 - 2023

Elmer M. Knizner, 91, of Youngwood, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at home. He was born Sept. 27, 1932, in Youngwood, a son of the late John and Mary (Yakanich) Knizner. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard and a member of Holy Cross Church. Prior to his retirement, he had been a supervisor at Powerex Inc. in Youngwood for 32 years. He was also an active member of the Latrobe Art Club and Norwin Art League, where he taught watercolor classes and displayed paintings in exhibits for more than 20 years. He loved to play all sports in his younger years. He enjoyed drawing, painting, reading the comics, watching sports, telling jokes and shopping. His favorite places were Barnes & Noble and Chick-fil-A. Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Marie Knizner; his children, David Knizner and wife, Natalie, of Bridgeville, and Amy Sudol and husband, Bob, of Annapolis, Md.; and his grandchildren, John Knizner, Kristine Knizner and Michael Sudol. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Knizner, of Youngwood; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, in the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., 101 S. Fourth St.. Youngwood. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Holy Cross Church, 711 Depot St., Youngwood.
