Ethel Kostik Obituary

Ethel Margaret Kostik, 87, of Smithton, Pennsylvania, passed
away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024, surrounded by her
loving family. Born on January 14, 1937, in Footedale,
Pennsylvania, Ethel was the cherished daughter of the late
Joseph Patrick and his beloved wife Mary (Chervka).
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her
loving and devoted husband, Frank Kostik, as well as eight
brothers (Michael, John, Frank, Stephen, Paul, Charles,
Nicholas, and Andrew) and two sisters (Anna and Mary). Her
strong faith was evident in her active membership at St. Anne
Roman Catholic Church in Rostraver and the former St.
Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Smithton, where she was a
dedicated member of the Christian Mothers.
Ethel dedicated 30 years of service to Jack's Supermarket in
Smithton, where her friendly demeanor and warm smile were
well known by all who came into the store. She had a true
passion for baking, and her nut rolls and lady locks were
legendary among family and friends, creating sweet memories
that will be cherished forever. Ethel also had a special fondness
for Cow Tails candy, and she delighted in sharing this treat with
her family, who will always remember her sweet tooth.
Ethel leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving
family. She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Frank
E. Kostik Sr. and his fiancée Brenda Palmer of East Palestine,
Ohio, and Linda Hribar and her husband Bill Hribar of
Smithton. Her spirit lives on in her grandchildren, who brought
her immense joy: Dawn Schaer and her partner John, Frank E.
Kostik Jr. and his wife Alison, Billy Hribar and his wife Jaimie,
Adam Kostik and his wife Courtney, Alex Kostik and his wife
Caci, and Bob Schaer. Ethel was also a proud great-grandmother
to Suzy and Stephanie Schaer, Jase and Cole Hribar, Shaina and
Savanna Stants, and Gia Fedrow Kostik.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Barthels
Funeral Home in Smithton on Sunday, June 16, from 6 PM to 8
PM. A celebration of Ethel's life and faith will be held at 10 AM
on June 17, where her memory will be honored and cherished.
Ethel's warmth, kindness, and love for her family and
community will be remembered by all who were fortunate
enough to know her.
