Florence Karas Obituary

Florence R. Karas, 97, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, in Irwin. She was born March 13, 1928, in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Sara (Glenn) Rixner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Karas, in 2013; five sisters; and one brother. Florence is survived by her two sons, Steve Karas and his wife, Debbie Schell, of Harrison City, and Doug Karas and his significant other, Janice Stankovich, of Irwin; two beloved grandchildren, Holly and Benjamin; a brother, William Rixner, of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Florence was a kind and gentle woman who found joy in the simple things in life. She was devoted to her family and took great pride in being a homemaker. An animal lover at heart, she shared her warmth and compassion with everyone around her. Services and burial will be private.
