Frank Morrone

1947 - 2023

Frank Morrone, 76, of East Deer Township, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, with his wife by his side. He was born March 10, 1947, in Harrison Township, to the late Frank and Dolores (Bennett) Morrone. Frank lived the past 22 years in Natrona Heights and prior to that Springdale. He was a fifth grade elementary school teacher for Apollo Ridge School District, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Oak Hills Christian Church, Butler, PSEA, Train Collector's Association and the Fort Pitt Train Association. Frank graduated from Slippery Rock State College. He was an avid train collector, enjoyed golf and travelling on bus trips. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn R. (Gilliland) Morrone; his children, Ryan (Joey) Morrone, of Gibsonia, and Nicol (Rich) Stevenson, of Adams Township. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Colin and Abigail Stevenson, of Adams Township; and his siblings, Ronald Morrone, of Cheswick, and Arlette Cochran, of Lower Burrell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah E. (Kimmins) Morrone in 2013; and sister, Nancy Yutes. Visitation is from 2 until the time of service at 7 p.m. Saturday in DUSTER FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, with his pastor, the Rev. Rob Gillgrest, officiating. Burial will be private. A celebration of Frank's life will be scheduled at a later date.
