Genola Marks

Genola "Jo" Walters Marks, 86, of Latrobe, passed away Monday, May 8, 2006. She was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Lycippus, a daughter of the late Harry and Sadie Evans Walters. She was a retired waitress from The Town House Restaurant of Ligonier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Marks, in 1984; also, three sisters, Thelma Campbell, Ruth Smith and Donna Meyers; a daughter-in-law, Diane Palmieri Marks; and a grandson, Scot Marks. She is survived by a daughter, Dixie Washnock and husband, Tom, of Whitney; three sons, James D. Marks, of Latrobe, Terry Marks and Mardi, of Ligonier, and Harry Marks, at home; 10 grandchildren, Debbie Jackson, Roxanne Berger, Sheree Winkleman, David Marks, Cindy Buchanan, Dona Werner, Rob Werner, LeeAnne Grgurich, Christine Malizia and Matt Marks; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mae Neff, of Elizabeth, Bess Janik and husband, Chester, of Latrobe, and Fern Aikens, of Lycippus; a brother, Harry "Jeff" Walters, of Lycippus; and numerous nieces and nephews. Respecting Jo's wishes, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Bethany United Methodist Church, Avenue B and Laveen Street, Latrobe, with Pastor August Twigg officiating. Interment in St. Paul's Reformed Cemetery, Trauger. The family will receive family and friends at a luncheon following the services in Fellowship Hall at Bethany United Methodist Church.
